my appointment with my baby's potential pediatrician and her not

being very supportive about me breastfeeding, I was a bit stressed

about this doc. I prayed hard last night that if I could just get

one of my many doc's on my side concerning breastfeeding then I

figure that the rest of them will probably follow suit. Well, I

couldn't ask for better than to have the perinatalogist supporting me

since he is a specialist! After he asked hubby and I a few

questions about my medical conditions, the meds I'm on, the ones I'm

slated to start after the baby is born, and how the pregnancy is

going, he said that he isn't too concerned about the meds I have been

taking as they are very low doses, but just to be cautious he wants

me to go in once a week for fetal monitoring for 20 minutes before I

take my first dose of meds for the day. This will not be so much fun

as I'm not one to want to go some where as soon as I get up, but it

won't be so bad since its just once a week. What made my hubby

really happy is he asked the doc if he thought we should have another

ultrasound and the doc said that it wasn't totally necessary but it

wouldn't hurt, so why not?! LOL! Hubby was very glad that we get

one more look as he can hardly wait the 6 or so weeks we have

left. Once all this was done I opened up the topic about

breastfeeding and expressed to the doc that this was something that

my hubby and I really want for our daughter. The doc said that in

his opinion he felt it was very important that I breastfeed her

considering I started with my auto-immune diseases as a young child,

he felt it was essential for her health and well being. I was so

happy to hear him say this it felt like an angel was speaking to

me! I told him about my concern that my rheumatologist would

withhold my new arthritis meds that I desperately need once my baby

is born because he didn't agree with me breastfeeding. The doc said

he was very concerned that I would go into a very bad flare with my

arthritis after the baby is born, especially since I'm flaring now so

he was going to write a letter to the rheumatologist stating his

opinion about me breastfeeding as well as, in his opinion, I should

start my new arthritis meds ASAP after the birth. I am so happy now,

and grateful that I can truly enjoy the last few weeks of my

pregnancy without the stress of having to fight with doctors.
