Hi tte,

I haven't had our new baby yet....but I know what kind of BC I used so I

wouldn't get pregnant after WLS.....condoms and the rhythm method.

Before I had WLS I had Norplant installed in my arm. It was great - 5 years of

birth control and no periods. But when I wanted to have a baby it made trying

to conceive very hard. I didn't have a period for 3 years after having the

norplant removed. The norplant system is the 6 little hormone sticks that get

put into the fat in your arm.

I cannot use the pill because I have a blood clotting disorder and it would be

very dangerous.

I would recommend talking with your Ob-gyn.

Good luck!

Hi Chrystal,

Glad to hear things went well with your baby. I have a question that maybe

you can answer. I have posted a few times but not getting alot of replies. I

am curious as to what type of Birth Control you may be using or what your dr.

recommended. I was wondering if the pill is safe enough for WLS patients and

what your choices were that you felt were going to be effective. I hope I can

get some good ideas from new and old moms as to what the best choices are.

Seems most people either don't know or don't want to elaborate on this question.

Hi Chrystal,

Thanks for your help. Please let me know of any other contraceptive methods

considered safe and effective for WLS patients. Have any info. on IUD's or the

patch from anyone.

Hi Chrystal,

I was wondering when taking that Norplant, what side effects did you have if any

and did you gain any weight and how much. Have been researching these

contraception possibilities and want to make sure they pick the right one.
