Guest guest
Welcome, & Ivan, First of all- what a *fantastic* website you have documenting Ivan's clubfoot treatment thus far! And what a cutie he is! I am a relative novice when it comes to a-typical clubfoot, but that definitely looks like one to me. If you can get to Iowa, that's probably your best chance for success since the docs there have the most experience with the unusual cases. Please keep us posted as to what you end up doing. We have lots of families here who have stayed in Iowa so they can help you with advice on that end (lodging at RMD House, entertainment etc.). I'm glad to read that Dr. Scher is encouraging you to go to see Dr. Ponseti. I'm sure he (Dr. Scher) would also appreciate the opportunity to know how the doctors in Iowa would treat Ivan's case considering it a personal learning opportunity. I would love to add Ivan's website to the http://pages.ivillage.com/ponseti_links site with your permission. We're glad to have you aboard! Guest guest
Hello , Welcome to the group! I also agree on the wonderful webpage you put together for Ivan. And what a cutie!!! I would send as many pictures possible to Dr. Ponseti and get a second opinion before having any surgery. On the webpage you showed and mentioned his feet 3 weeks after casting in November. The question I am wondering is he wearing DBB currently? Or has he been 3 weeks without casts or DBB? In my 'nonprofessional' opinion, it looks like atypical and seems to be still turning in. Parents handling atypical feet will be a great help to you and recommending the best option for you. Good luck and keep us posted. Guest guest
, Hello and welcome to the group! Wow, Ivan has been through quite a bit already. I know that your decision about his treatment is difficult. I would also encourage you to go to Iowa and see Dr. Ponseti. I know that you said that you don't want to put Ivan through that if he will end up needing surgery anyway but, I truly feel that a surgical outcome will be easier to handle if you knew and were convinced of the fact that you had exhausted all other possibilities first. If you click on " Links " at the left of this page, you will find links to many resources that may help ease the financial burden of travelling to Iowa for treatment - Angel flights offers free flights for medical treatments and you will also find the link for Mc house in Iowa City. Good luck and please keep us posted. Daiga and Owen, 02/04/03 Unilateral LCF, FAB 14/24 > > > Hello, > > My son Ivan was born in June with atypical left clubfoot. Guest guest
Welcome and Ivan, Your website is so informative and Ivan is just beautiful! I think you are making a good decision in considering a visit to Dr. Ponseti before you chooseing surgery. You have gone this far without it and it sounds like you are almost there, but need that help to get over the hump from the master. Best of luck in what you decide. We are here for you. Guest guest
Hello I am also new to the group and have found since joining I have a new lease of life on the whole club foot thing??? Make sense?? It's great to read what other members have experience and how they deal with it. I love Ivan's chubby little legs. I do not know what to say and cannot offer you any advice except it sounds like you are well educated on the matter. We have been very happy with our decision to seek treatment with Dr. Scher, but he is advising us to have Ivan's foot operated on, as we seem to be at a standstill with the casting. There is a deep lateral crease in the foot and the heel is drawn up. This is a difficult decision for us, and we are contemplating going to Iowa, but I don't want to subject Ivan to more physical discomfort than necessary especially if we ultimately will need to resort to a surgical release anyway. Any advice is appreciated, especially from those of you who are dealing with atypical feet. Guest guest
Ivan is a cutie! What an awesome website, too. I just returned from Dr. P and I encourage you to go. He is amazing! Check on Angel Flights, and the Mc House. I think you will agree that it will be worth doing, if even to just not have to think, 'what if' for the rest of your life!!!! He will guide you where you need to go. Have you considered emailing Doctor Ponseti directly? I emailed him on Monday and he called me that afternoon to tell me to come for a visit. I would think if you emailed him, he would be quick to respond to you as well. Best of luck to you! Jayme & Ava, bcf > > > Hello, > > My son Ivan was born in June with atypical left clubfoot.
