Guest guest
Hi Friends, Remember the other day when I asked if anyone knew the name of the liquid that can be used for Upper GI's instead of the barium? Well, no one knew what it was called and some didn't even know it was available in place of the barium. Today I called my local country Hospital to set up my appointments for my GI tests. I asked the lady that answered the phone, and I was correct, they do have another liquid that they can use in place of the barium. She said it is usually only used for patients who are going into the OR after the Upper GI test. I asked her the name of it and she told me it is called: " GastroView " . She said just have my doctor state on my prescription form that they are to use the Gastroview. The nice lady told me that it is alot easier on the system and doesn't cause the binding like the barium does. So I am calling my GI doc in Boston tomorrow and asking him if it is possible for me to use the gastroview instead of the barium, if he agrees then I will ask him to please send me a new prescription stating to use the gastroview. So for all of you people out there that have problems with barium, there is a solution. Boy, I feel so much better about this. Hugs, Ann-Marie
