Update and Question about underwire bras

I've never heard of having a problem with underwires for anyone during

pregnancy. I wore them with all 3 of my other pregnancies and didn't have any

problems, and yes I breast-fed each one of my 3 boys. I think the most

important

thing for your breast health is to keep them as supported as possible,

especially as they get heavier. Half the time my breasts hurt so bad when I

take my

bra off in the evening that I'm tempted to put it back on and sleep just for

the support. I did wear a bra to bed the first month or so while I breast-fed

each time.......both for support and because it takes at least a month for your

milk to become regulated and you leak EVERYWHERE!!!!

Just FYI, though, Lane stores do carry supportive bras without

underwires in sizes all the way through DDD. Usually their bras are buy one get

one

half off. Even though I no longer wear most of their clothes, I always buy my

bras there. I can't find DDs (or now DDDs) anywhere else that are quite as

comfortable and halfway stylish.

Good luck,

Mandi in Concord, NC

Hi ladies,

I have been out of town and very busy lately, and I'm still trying to

catch up on all the emails. I had an ultrasound on 3/4, and we found

out that it's a boy! (No question about it.) Everything looks good.

All the Chinese calendars I had seen said I was having a girl, but

this one is definitely a boy!! We are struggling with a name right

now.

Quick question: I heard yesterday that it's not good to wear an

underwire bra while pregnant. Is that true? I had heard that it's not

good while breastfeeding. Honestly, my boobs are way too saggy from

the weight loss to wear a bra that's not underwire. Do they even make

38DD bras without a wire???? Any insight you ladies have would be

very appreciated. I looked in What to Expect, and it did not mention

anything about this.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks!

I hate underwire bras and use the Platex 18 hour bras. I also used them when I

was a size 48DD and breastfeeding my son. I just pulled the side up when

feeding. They offer just as much if not more support than an underwire with out

the annoyance. Just my opinion.

I also went into Lane and was fitted for a bra. It made all the

difference because I was in completely the wrong cup and size.

I started out before WLS at a 52 DD.....it was not a pretty site and my boobs

are saggy. Can't wait for this baby to come out so I can have my tummy tuck and

boob job!

I have been wearing underwires throughout my pregnancy. And when

I'm not wearing my underwire, I am wearing a sports bra (otherwise I

leak leak everywhere). I wear a 42C- if I didn't wear an underwire,

I fear I'd be wearing a 42 Long.

Early in my pregnancy, I developed " an over abundance of mammary

breast tissue/gland inflammation " due to the excess hormones of

pregnancy. It extended up into my left armpit. My underwire bra

pushed on the swollen glands and made it extremely uncomfortable to

wear, but they didn't tell me not to wear an underwire. It just made

common sense NOT to. lol

Sorry, can't be of more help....

Body By Bras are FANTASTIC if a little pricey. They last a

long time, so by the time you need to replace one good one, you've

already gone through 3 cheapos. It's a great investment in comfort!

Where did you hear this? I have never heard this, in fact I swear I was reading

a discussion about this somewhere (pregnancy forgetfulness kicking in! LOL!) and

there was mentioning of maternity/nursing bras that had underwire. I know for

me that I don't really feel supported unless I wear an underwire bra, I have

been wearing them since I was a young teen. Do you remember why " they " were

saying that the underwire was not good? I'm thinking that probably the best

place to get an answer to something like this is the La Leche League as they are

one of the leading organizations on breastfeeding. I have been in contact with

a local leader of that organization and she has been amazing, contacting people

all over the country to get answers for me about the meds I am taking and how

they work with breastfeeding. When I speak to her next I will mention this and

see what she says. By the way, where in Dallas are you? My Mom lives in Wylie

and my husband and I like it there. For his next duty assignment we are going

to try to get anywhere in TX we can, word has it we may be able to get a slot in

San . :)
