Guest guest
Hi Ivy, congratulations! And, good news on seeing the heartbeat and the little one. Its always a great relief when signs of that wonderful little life are given to us. We told our 12 yr old when we were around 8 weeks along. He's been through a miscarriage with us before and understood how things could turn out. Besides, I was very sick for the first couple of months and he definitely needed an explaination as to why after a year out from WLS I was suddenly vomiting and sleeping all the time. He was concerned that my surgery was going south. He went to my first ultrasound appointment and that gave him a little more personal feeling for the whole thing. As for your family... You're an adult and I personally think this wonderful news is worth celebrating with your loved ones, and (being raised in a strict Catholic household too) I'm willing to bet they'll embrace your excitement. Good luck and congrats again. Toi EDD 8/17/
Guest guest
Ivy, I am almost 16 weeks(monday) pregnant and I have a 9 1/2 year old daughter. We waited to tell her until we were about 8 weeks since I just had a miscarriage w/triplets back in September and she was devastated by that. She was with me when I had the ultrasound that confirmed there were no heartbeats. I broke down in front of her and she was so confused but tried to comfort me like an adult. We didn't want to hurt her again. She has wanted a sibling for so long and WLS made it possible for me to get pregnant. She is so happy now. My best advice to you is to wait as long as possible to make sure everything looks okay then spread the news. If something were to happen then just explain that things happen that we can't control and sometimes they are for the best. I wish you the best of luck.
