I keep intending to ask the group this when I read about heel

slipping troubles- has anyone else had their Dr. actually begin to

shape in a heel while the feet are in casts? Dr. Ponseti did this

with Zeke's heels as part of the casting, so that when he went into

the brace he already had the beginning of a heel. This made it much

easier to keep his heel from slipping when he went into the brace.

Zeke was 6-7 mos. when he was treated- maybe his age made it more

possible to shape in a heel?

Caroline,

You're probably right that his age played a role in the ability for

the doctor to try to " form " the heel. I know the foot changes a lot,

internally and externally in the first year of life. Very

interesting! Thanks for mentioning it!
