Guest guest
Dan, first of all - don't let 's situation raise any undo alarm in your own situation, OK? Hindsight being 20/20 I am more and more convinced he started out fairly severe and Atypical; he went though a lot of bad treatment before we found Dr. P when he was about 21 months old. Dr. P tried re-casting but finally opted to do the ATTT. Basically all we did was close the barn door but most the cows were already out by then. To answer your questions though - the kid has problems. I won't deny it. His feet are very stiff. He cannot squat down very far at all, nor can he really bend over much with out bending his knees as there is no real flex or stretch in his heel area (both feet). Doing chores that require reaching to the floor, he'll end up sitting down because he can't bend or squat with any ease or comfort. Running is ..... he's not a good runner. When he runs, I'll try to describe this best I can here - he's running on fence posts. His toes point in at each other quite a bit, there is very little bend in his ankles. His feet are very small, square boxes at the end of ankles that don't like to bend. He can only stand on one foot a few seconds. Hopping on one foot is liable to throw him to the ground as there is no balance in the other foot to stand on. Just a side note, he hasn't had another pain issue like that of the other evening. I expected some after a night of trick-or-treating (walking all over town), but there wasn't, so maybe it was a fluke of growing pains and not his ATTT. Please don't panic abotu your own child, OK? 's case was far from typical. s. Re: ATTT Question
