Guest guest
I just went in for my annual check up today and figured I could give some input to the lady that has been asking about contraceptives after wls. The ob/gyn that I saw, (my normal one had a delivery) has many wls patients and he says that he puts most of them on the patch or Nuva Ring which is new. They don't have the risk of being malabsorbed. Since I cannot use the patch( rashes) I choose the Ring over an IUD or Diaphragm. You put it in you vagina sort of like a tampon and leave it fof three weeks. Then you take it out have a period and reinsert. It has minmal hormones and supposedly doesn't affect your system as much as other methods. The doc inserted mine after the exam and I can't tell it is there. I will let you know if hubby can tell though he is not suppposed to be able to feel it either. Sorry this is so long just wanted to share what I had learned.
