Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Welcome to the group. My little girl Rose has a right club foot also and is just 1 year older than your . Her Dr says she will have to wear the DBB 2 years minimum and as much longer as she will tolerate it. Her two years comes up in July and I hope to keep it on her until March of 06 when she will turn three. Rose does great with the DBB and dosn't realize that all kids don't wear shoes to bed. She was playing with a ball this past weekend and stood on her tippy toes. I can tell you it thrilled me to the core to see that little heel come up off the floor. It didn't seem to stay up as well as her left, but we will take what we can get! Best of luck Sharon. Everyone here is really nice and there is lots of experience and sharing. He also has a curled pinky on this foot which will be operated on Monday 6th December. He has already had his achilles tendon lengthened. is wearing his DBB 12 hours at night. Were not quite sure for how long, I am guessing 2 years minimum. For those of you who have been through the DBB, how old was your child when they were boot free? We live in Melbourne, Australia. I am impressed with all of the information provided here. I only wish I had found it when was born. I have copied some of the information/tips from this group and will give it to our orthopedic surgeon to give to other parents with children of club foot/feet. I also plan give a copy to the orthotics department of the children's hospital who fit the DBB. Guest guest
Welcome, Sharon & family! We've got a handful of Australian families here- glad to have you aboard! There is a small flyer advertising this support group in the files section that you can print off (I think it's called " poster " ) to give to your local Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Orthopaedic groups etc. There is also a bunch of info at http://pages.ivillage.com/ponseti_links that you might find useful. Your son is a cutie! Thanks for sharing his picture! Keep us posted on how his surgery goes! What doctor are you taking to? The latest protocol for the brace is for the child to wear it as close to age 4-5 as possible. Kids have had sudden and severe relapses with no warning when released from the brace at age 3. Dr. Morcuende, a colleague of Dr. Ponseti is working on publishing a paper on relapses which should be out soon so they'll have better guidelines and maybe some " predictors " to know what kids are more susceptable to the possibility of relapse. & (3-16-00) left clubfoot > > Hi there > > I am new to this group and have added two photos of my who has > a right club foot.
