Guest guest
Hello everyone! I am so excited to be a new member! I have a few questions that I cannot seem to find answers to. First off, I am 34, trying to concieve. I had RNY back on 11-1-02 (14 months out) My surgeon has given me the go ahead to try for a baby. I have had a check up by my OB and all clear there. But I am not sure if my OB truly gets the malabsorbtion factor when it comes to vitamins. I am wondering what you take in the way of prenatal & regular vitamins. Currently I take a B-Complex 2 x a day & a multivitamin w/iron 2 x a day. I know how important the B vitamins/folic acid are prior to conception but I also know you can take to much. The recommended value for folic acid for normal stomachs is 400mcg. I am taking about 4 x that amount. Is this too much/not enough? My OB said to just take my normal vitamin like I do but I am not sure if she understands the malabsorbtion thing. Can someone help? Also, are there other dangers with being a RNY'er that I should be aware of. This is my first month to be off of the pill and officially " trying " Thanks!
