Guest guest
I am seeing a lot on the internet news about Vitamin E in megadoses being bad rather than good. It is part of the cocktail ordered for me by my Neurologist. Is anyone else taking mega doses of E and what are the doctors saying? Should I cut it out of the cocktail? Cheers, Ruth
Guest guest
Thanks Malisa, That certainly answers a lot of questions. Would listmembers who will be seeing one of the famous and good mito docs in the near future ask this question of him or her? I haven't talked to anyone about Vitamin E since the new warnings came out, but when I saw my mito doctor last year, he was concerned b/c I was on a high amount of CoQ10 and the amount of Vitamin E totaled over 2000 IU a day. Thus, I had to stop that particular brand of CoQ10. I actually spoke to Raj, Tishcon's president, about Vitamin E and CoQ10 and he said he would not recommend Vitamin E amounts in excess of 1200 IU/day. At doses higher than that Vit. E can actually inhibit CoQ10 absorption, according to him. Malisa
Guest guest
Ruth How much are you taking? The news is mentioning over 2000 mg. I am now using the chewable Q-gel, so I'm not getting as much vit. E, so started taking the vit. E along with everything else. It is so hard to know how we are processing it, so we may need the large amount. It does act as a blood thinner, but I am still taking a regular aspirin at night and my bleeding time is where they want it. That was on the larger dose. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2004 00:17:34 -0500 > To: > > Subject: Vitamin E > > I am seeing a lot on the internet news about Vitamin E in megadoses being > bad rather than good. Guest guest
Sunny I was encouraged to increase my Q-gel following the findings from the Parkinson's study. Since I have no idea how much I metabolize, I ended up at 960 mg. of Q-gel and this is when I started having relief from some of my symptoms. laurie > From: z39z@... > Reply-To: > Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2004 22:22:48 -0500 > To: > Subject: Re: Vitamin E > > > > > The recommended dosage of E is all over the place. Guest guest
Hi, Laurie That is great, that you are getting relief from some of your symptoms. We are all different, and we are all sailing in waters that are not completely chartered, to say the least. I am always appreciative to know what, including doses, has helped someone else. Thank you, Laurie. Regards Sunny > Sunny > > I was encouraged to increase my Q-gel following the findings from the > Parkinson's study.
