i have a question about how the feet are supposed to look after they

are corrected.

my daughter had a cord lenghting in august then her casts and

finally she was put in the

dbb shoes and here lately she will just not keep the shoes on at

all. she unties them and pulls and pull until her feet come out. and

as soon as i put them back on, 5minutes later she will have them

off. i tighten them really tight and she can still get them off so

she has not worn them as much as she is supposed to so now her feet

curve a little. is this a sign of recurrence?

she doesnt go get checked until 2weeks and i wondered are the feet

supposed to look over corrected or just normal?

also when she stands her feet kind of bend to the side. is this also

a sign of recurrence?

i asked dr.ponseti why she would not stand and he said it takes time

after the cord lengthing but she is 10months. with her shoes she

will stand and even pull herself up to stand in her crib.

also what happens if the shoes are not helping or if there is a

relapse?

all your info is appreciated

, if you are concerned that they just don't look " right " to

you, go ahead and get some pictures of them and email them to Dr.

Ponseti. He would need to see her bearing weight on her feet

(standing) from the front, back and sides and also a shot of the

soles of her feet. When she is standing, are her feet flat on the

floor or is she standing on the outer edges?

When Owen's foot relapsed, I had noticed that when I held his leg up,

his foot was turned in very slightly. When he was standing, he stood

on the outside edge of the foot and the inside edge was barely

touching the floor. After emailing photos to Dr. Ponseti, he

contacted me and confirmed that it was a relapse. Owen regained full

correction after one additional cast.

Hope this helps,

well i guess my suspcians are right. i so believe she is relapsing.

when she stands her feet are flat for a moment then she will use the

outside of her feet.

i will send pictures of her feet to dr.ponseti and i will try to get

an appointment with her doctor this week instead of waiting an

additional week. its so hard cause i live in a small town and have

to travel to another city to see a doctor who comes only 2 times a

week.

but anyways hopefully he can see her this week. i feel so nervous as

i do not know what to expect with the relapse. if she is casted do

they have to go back to the 23/7 in the dbbs?

im wondering if anyone knows a good ponseti trained doctor some

where near texas?

i discussed the emails with my husband and we may end up going to

see doctor ponseti in november but is he there for the hoildays?

well thanks to you that posted your message!

thank you so much for your help. ill send dr p. some photos but i

think he will tell me what i suspect.

i belive this not only because how she stands but also the way her

feet are kind of curved in.

i did want to see dr.p during thanksgiving week just cause my son is

out of school that week and i wanted the whole family to go. but it

is a long drive from texas.

i think i will take it one step at a time and see what her doctor as

well as dr.p has to say. thanks again!

, we did not have to go back to full time FAB wear once the

correction was completed but my guess is that it would depend on the

severity of the relapse in each case.

well today i walked her a little and her feet stayed straight. maybe

she is just starting to relapse. it's more when she stands without

her shoes that she uses the outer edge to stand.

well ill send pictures to dr. ponseti and see what he thinks.

also im not sure what shoes she is in. ive heard the mitchell shoes

mentioned and also the markell shoes. hers look like little white

boots. they have the buckle through the middle and are open toed. i

dont know if that helps but here lately she just will not keep them

on. maybe that is why the relapse is occurring. she will take a nap

and when she gets up they are off again. or we will go somewher and

by the time we get there on side is off.

well im hoping that if they do cast her again after wards she wont

have to do the 23/7 again because it was a nightmare for us. she

just has one more month of 23/7 left.

well i will deep you posted. and thanks so much!

> Ugh, that's awful - sounds like a relaps to me too, standing on

the outer edges of her feet. She will probably have to start

over with some casting and DBB - you may want to consider Michelll

shoes next time if she's able to escape from the others. Hang in

there! I know it's a long road but well worth it!

im wondering if that is why she is able to get them off. at first

when she would wear them she could not get them off, but now that

she is older she can wiggle out of them pretty good. and i tighten

them pretty good. they tend to leave a mark on the foot that she can

get off. thats howw tight i put them put she can still get out of

them. is the mitchell shoe much different? or how is it better?

thanks!

They are most common. A man named just started

building his " " shoes in the past year or so and they are

pretty new but getting more common on this board. My baby kept

getting blisters/pressure sores in his Markel shoes. We tried two

pairs with same results so we switched to the shoe and it's

been a God-send. Expensive yes, about double the standard Markel

rate, but worth it for those of us who have had bad issues with the

Markels. But just to be fair, there are literally hundreds of

parents who have used the Markel with wonderful results.
