Guest guest
Hi , In my experience, it was a sign of a relapse. In fact, her first doctor confirmed it. Lhea was 1 week at her first cast and had her lengthening on July 22nd this year. She was infamous for untying her shoes. It seemed that the only time the shoes had a good amount of time on was when she was sleeping......other then that, she would untye, kick or pull them off or even wiggle them off. Goodness, she was a magician at that....... In September, I went to a followup appt. where her 1st doctor told me that she was indeed relapsing....keep in mind, that her feet were NEVER over corrected even with her TAL. Her doctor then, wanted to " TRY " the TAL again....I said " NO WAY! " I immediately came home and contacted Dr. P. Needless to say, now I am asking how to get her heel to touch the shoe..... But, from experience, and at 10 months old, if there is a relapse, Dr. Ponseti is the one to help you if you can get to him or they can recommend a doctor for you. I wish you the best, and keep in touch. michelle andyandsamanthamom@...> wrote: i have a question about how the feet are supposed to look after they are corrected. my daughter had a cord lenghting in august then her casts and finally she was put in the dbb shoes and here lately she will just not keep the shoes on at all. she unties them and pulls and pull until her feet come out. and as soon as i put them back on, 5minutes later she will have them off. i tighten them really tight and she can still get them off so she has not worn them as much as she is supposed to so now her feet curve a little. is this a sign of recurrence? she doesnt go get checked until 2weeks and i wondered are the feet supposed to look over corrected or just normal? also when she stands her feet kind of bend to the side. is this also a sign of recurrence? i asked dr.ponseti why she would not stand and he said it takes time after the cord lengthing but she is 10months. with her shoes she will stand and even pull herself up to stand in her crib. also what happens if the shoes are not helping or if there is a relapse? all your info is appreciated michelle and samantha bl cl 12/16/2003
Guest guest
Hi , Instincts usually serve as corrected. Especially if standing and favoring the sides of her feet. That is a sign....but sometimes too, children like to do that. Kids at home did that and they don't have clubbed feet. Lhea's the only one right now - this generation and the one before her. I have an appt. to see Dr. P. in December, I know that he's not going to be there for Thanksgiving and he does get appts. for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can also stay (if they can accomodate) at the Mc House in Iowa City. If you need their registration number, email me. It's just less than 5 minutes from the hospital. It's a great house!!!! Check out the University of Iowa's site for Dr. P, I believe there is a link there that can lead you to doctor's on his list - or email him, his assitant, Joyce Roller will contact you back quick! michelle andyandsamanthamom@...> wrote: well i guess my suspcians are right. i so believe she is relapsing. when she stands her feet are flat for a moment then she will use the outside of her feet. i will send pictures of her feet to dr.ponseti and i will try to get an appointment with her doctor this week instead of waiting an additional week. its so hard cause i live in a small town and have to travel to another city to see a doctor who comes only 2 times a week. but anyways hopefully he can see her this week. i feel so nervous as i do not know what to expect with the relapse. if she is casted do they have to go back to the 23/7 in the dbbs? im wondering if anyone knows a good ponseti trained doctor some where near texas? i discussed the emails with my husband and we may end up going to see doctor ponseti in november but is he there for the hoildays? well thanks to you that posted your message! > > i have a question about how the feet are supposed to look after they > are corrected. > my daughter had a cord lenghting in august then her casts and > finally she was put in the > dbb shoes and here lately she will just not keep the shoes on at > all. she unties them and pulls and pull until her feet come out. and > as soon as i put them back on, 5minutes later she will have them > off. i tighten them really tight and she can still get them off so > she has not worn them as much as she is supposed to so now her feet > curve a little. is this a sign of recurrence? > she doesnt go get checked until 2weeks and i wondered are the feet > supposed to look over corrected or just normal? > also when she stands her feet kind of bend to the side. is this also > a sign of recurrence? > i asked dr.ponseti why she would not stand and he said it takes time > after the cord lengthing but she is 10months. with her shoes she > will stand and even pull herself up to stand in her crib. > also what happens if the shoes are not helping or if there is a > relapse? > all your info is appreciated > michelle and samantha > bl cl 12/16/2003 > > > > > >
Guest guest
Ugh, that's awful - sounds like a relaps to me too, standing on the outer edges of her feet. She will probably have to start over with some casting and DBB - you may want to consider Michelll shoes next time if she's able to escape from the others. Hang in there! I know it's a long road but well worth it! s. well i guess my suspcians are right. i so believe she is relapsing. when she stands her feet are flat for a moment then she will use the outside of her feet. i
Guest guest
White boot with shoe strings and a strap are the Markel shoes. They are most common. A man named just started building his " " shoes in the past year or so and they are pretty new but getting more common on this board. My baby kept getting blisters/pressure sores in his Markel shoes. We tried two pairs with same results so we switched to the shoe and it's been a God-send. Expensive yes, about double the standard Markel rate, but worth it for those of us who have had bad issues with the Markels. But just to be fair, there are literally hundreds of parents who have used the Markel with wonderful results. s. mentioned and also the markell shoes. hers look like little white boots. they have the buckle through the middle and are open toed. i dont know if
Guest guest
My experinece with the shoe is that is fits like a glove, form fitting around the foot. The materials are very flexible so they can snug down around the foot yet remain comfortable. The only way I can see a foot slipping out is if you didn't tighten them. I don't think they need to be applied as tight, either, as the Markel shoes, yet they still work to hold correction. Dr. Ponseti helped Mr. design this shoe and swears by them. So do I. s. Re: question about how feet look im wondering if that is why she is able to get them off. at first when she would wear them she could not get them off, but now that she is older she can wiggle out of them pretty good. and i tighten them pretty good. they tend to leave a mark on the foot that she can get off. thats howw tight i put them put she can still get out of them. is the mitchell shoe much different? or how is it better? thanks! michelle and samantha bl cf 12/16/03 -- In nosurgery4clubfoot , " Number23 " wrote: > White boot with shoe strings and a strap are the Markel shoes.
