Dr P on the phone!

Greetings from South Dakota,

I am thrilled to share that Doctor Ponseti himself called me today.

What a joy! I emailed him last night after seeing a video on the

Virtual Children's Hospital website, and reading many other stories. I

attached pictures of my baby Ava at birth and I was so shocked to

actually get a phone call back. I have never ever been able to contact

my FAMILY DOCTOR on the phone, and here is this extremely highly

regarded doctor calling little old me back! He made me and Ava feel so

special by taking that 5 minutes of time from his day. I can tell that

he truly cares about us, and we aren't just dollar signs in his eyes.

He even told me about the Mc house while we were visiting.

Just from seeing the pics of my Ava he said that the 3 weeks of casting

my ortho did would not be enough and he wasn't shocked that she is still

standing on the sides of her feet. We will get new casts on Wednesday

and repeat every 5 days.

There is a peace that has come over me that I can't explain. I feel

this nightmare is finally over for me and my family. I am trying every

way I can to think of ways to help other cf families. One of our tv

stations has a lady who reports a weekly 'health beat', and I will be

calling her right away when we return. This is such a common thing-

more people need to be educated to check on their doctors and make sure

everything is up to par.

I picked up Ava's chart from our ortho today and he reported following

the Ponseti method, and there were a few other things that I had to

laugh about. I am happy to move on, but I just feel so bad about any

one else being referred to him and having to go through the same thing

we did. Perhaps he will be up for some education? I can only hope. I

will pray about it and then confront him with all of my new-found

knowledge when the time is right. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for all of your words of encouragement and for getting us

where we needed to go. Without all of your gentle nudging and personal

testimonies, I would not have contacted Dr. P and now I am so glad I did

(and just think, we haven't even met him face to face yet!) You are a

wonderful group of people! God is smiling, I am sure~

Well, I better getting packing! We are headed to Iowa in the morning!
