Heidi,

I too suffer with severe morning sickness 24/7 the entire pregnancy. I had it

with both of my children. Now I am pregnant with my 3rd and nothing has changed

except this time I have the bypass to deal with. Actually what has changed is

that I have not vomited once yet! Knock on wood! But I have been pretty darn

close on many occassions. That would have been impossible with the other 2. I

think because my stomach is smaller I don't make all the acids that were causing

a lot of my stomach upset previously. I am able to wake up in the morning and

eat and have it settle until about 9 am then the nausea hits me. It's so bad I

have to have Phenergan. I also take Zantac. I know this time around it's even

more important not to throw up that's why I am on the medication. I am not at

my ideal weight, I still have 90 pounds to go, so the baby still has my fat to

rely on.

This pregnancy was not planned, it was a surprise. I did not ever want to feel

nauseous or vomit again, it's the worst feeling in the world to live like that

everyday for months at a time. It's a huge decisioon that you're facing because

only you know what you can handle. Every pregnancy is different to some degree,

but if you had it with the first 2 you can pretty much count on it with another

one.

I wish you lots of luck!

Heidi,

So you are one of the unlucky ones too heh? I also suffered for Hyperemesis

from about 6 weeks of pregnancy until the day I delivered. I lost 27 lbs in

my pre-op pregnancy and 91 in my post-op pregnancy. I was very scared, as I

also concieved just 7 weeks after delivering. There was a point in my

post-op pregnancy that I consumed on 200-300 calories a day. I had no

appetite and would vomit constantly. I couldn't even take my prenatals,

luckily I was able to take 3 Flinstones daily. My OB tried everything and I

did have to go in my IV therapy with my dehydration too. My philosophy was

if I could take my vits and get as much food in me daily I was doing all I

could. Of course my OB kept close watch over the babies growth and my blood

levels. The only problem I did have was the lat 6 weeks of preg. my Albumin

(protein) levels were so low it was causing me to have severe Edema

(swelling.) But, that went away about 3 weeks after the birth. My post-op

baby was born healthy and weighing 7lb 13oz! Now, on another note, my

OB said on the next pregnancy he would like me to try Zofran for my morning

sickness, and that it is perfectly safe for the baby. So, I will give that a

try. I am sorry I know how Hyperemesis is...I'm right there with ya! Best

wishes!

With my daughter before the surgery I was sick 24/7 for the 9 months. My

husband used to joke and tell me that he was going to ask the resturants if he

could rent the food because I would give it back before we left.

This time around I am 10 weeks and it is starting to go away. (Knock on wood)My

big thing is that I get really nausaus if I don't eat every 1/2 hour or so. It

can be something really small but it has to be something.

Good luck

Tricia
