I really appreciate the input re:snowsuits etc. has been

wearing DBB for 1 week and I'm quickly coming to grips with the

reality of needing open legs. He has some kind of gross green gastro

and we are doing multiple changes, from the skin out, several times

an hour and then a lull, but at least 8 - 10 bms/day. Yes, the

pediatrician is monitoring and no, he's not dehydrated but is losing

weight and has one very red behind!!! Breastfed but picked up RSV at

hospital 2 months ago when he had the achilles tendon thing done and

they think all the mucous he swallows (we call him Bagpipe he's so

wheezy) has irritated the lining of bowel...I'm off all dairy and

that has helped, at least he's not showing any more blood in the

diaper. So changing instantly is a necessity. I haven't got the

choice of taking off shoes etc even if I wanted to take the time.

It's cold in rural Ontario, already and we carpool to a Christian

school so are on the road 1 hr/day. I can't just dress for the

car/mall etc as we have to dress for the DITCH....having had

various " off-road " experiences over the last 20 years on the farm.

The poncho sounds like a good idea but we need serious snowgear

underneath...I thought I'd buy a snowsuit at Goodwill cheap and cut

the legs open etc. Probably never going to happen as I have 7 other

kids,(6 at home) and a first grandchild due in 2 weeks so don't have

a lot of time to fiddle around with sewing projects. Anyhow, he's a

long, lean 7 months so the pram-bag is likely too short but I'm going

to look for one and see. My Mom thought she saw toddler size carseat

bags/cuddle sacs in Toronto so we have that option as well.

Margaret (and baby )
