Guest guest
I have had multiple brain scans and all of them use something to keep your head positioned. The older closed ones weren't like a tunnel they were like a coffin, plain and simple! I NEVER would have thought it would bother me because I had gone in them with patients multiple times and had already had one of my legs. Being inside the best advice anyone can give you is ask for a wash cloth and have your eyes closed and covered! Don't move your arms around much and count as fast as you can...that takes your mind off how long it is taking and helps you relax. PLAN on them running late and take something to do or read while you wait. My first brain one they said I could watch TV...turns out the TV is outside the coffin and you are looking in a little mirror at your chin of the reflection of the TV...I told the tech I could not handle it and she quickly got me out. Not being able to wear my hearing aids meant no communication either! She didn't try to calm me or suggest a wash cloth and 48 hours later I was drugged and in there because I had a stroke! The open ones around here are not donut shaped that is a ct scanner. The open MRI is more like hotdog bun and the bed is slipped into it...totally open on one side, so unless your head is being held you can look completely around the room.
