Guest guest
I have 2 more theories to add to the others besides teething or the bar is too short. Around this time, children can start to have nightmares as their language develops and their dreams change from nonverbal to verbal and they become aware that things are " scary " . Now when zoe wakes up she will tell me why: needs a drink, needs to pee, had a bad dream (can describe in detail). She sleeps with a light on (25 watt bulb). Two nightlights were not enough. Is scared to death of shadows... Also, every child I have ever known that had a toddler bed did not actually sleep in the toddler bed. Usually around 2 1/2 years old. Most toddler beds use the crib mattress which probably is not very comfortable once a child reaches 30 pounds. We had wanted to keep Zoe in the crib as long as possible and move her to a toddler bed (they're so darn cute!), but once she hit 30 pounds, she was sleeping terribly in the crib. We put her in a twin bed and she slept like a log... until the shoes became too small... We put her in a regular bed with mattress, box spring, headboard, footboard and added a bedrail... I know people just put a twin mattress on the floor, but we didn't have room to store all of the other parts of the bed that we moved in from the guest room... Hope this helps!
