Dear All,

My son(10 months, unilateral) started having his Steenback brace.

Actually, he is accustomed to sleeping sideways. But because of the

shoes, he is not able to turn sideways and sleep. He is not able to

sleep properly. Please advice me how on to make him convenient in

the shoes while sleeping.

Thanks.

Hi there!

You can prop him on his side when you put him to bed. Place rolled

up towels or a pillow behind his back and legs to keep him from

rolling back. Or, you can try just propping pillows behind his legs

and then leaning the top leg back onto the top of the pillow.

Alternatively, many of us have noticed that our babies will adjust

their sleeping positions to the brace. Those who are most

comfortable sleeping on their sides will sometimes sleep in a 'V'

position with their legs brought straight up and then flipped over so

that the legs are laying face down while their upper body is on it's

side 'facing' the legs. Our children seem to be very flexible!

I hope that your son quickly adjusts and finds a suitable position

that he's comfortable in.
