Guest guest
Hi there! We are going through the exact same situation as you are with Schmale!! We have seen some red flags as well one being, at our last appointment, he walked into the room and said, " are we doing one foot or two? " I could have screamed!! We had seen his every week for the previous 5 weeks and he looked at us like he had never seen us before! Come on, at least read the chart before you come in and PRETEND you care! At our last appointment Dr. Schmale didn't know if he was going to recommend the tenotemy or not so sent us home with the DBB and said we could wait 3 weeks and see. That freaked me out. That is when we started wondering if we were in good hands. The second red flag is that Weston had a rocker bottom foot deformity. It is our understanding that this is a result of mistreatment. We have emailed Dr. Ponsetti with pictures. He had recommended that Weston have the tenotemy surgery. He also recommended that we see Dr. Moska. Another red flag.... Dr. Schmale has told me on several occassions that my son has me " trained " because I am concerned with his pain/discomfort with casting, etc. He suggested that we let his cry it out at 4 weeks of age. Our pediatrician totally disagreed with this. The problem is that it is so hard to get in with Dr. Moska!!! We have an appointment in January for a second opinion. We will have to see Schmale in the meantime. The scheduling people also seemed reluctant to move us. We have an appointment tommorrow and possible tenotemy so we'll see how it goes. As far as being uncomfortable in the hallways at the clinic, etc. I wouldn't worry about it. He might not even recognize you, as he did with us!!! Hope that helps. Please keep us posted with your experiences as well! Lori
