If your OB says that he, his associates, your bariatric surgeon, and your nutritionist all came to this decision (altough I'm not sure why your bariatric surgeon or nutritionist is involved in this at all)...and if you're not WANTING a cesarean...then you could always ask for his references as to 2nd stage being compromised due to having had abdominal surgery in the past... you could always ask him how he came to this recommendation and ask for references and studies that show that previous abdominal surgeries have had impacts on second stage of labor... Of course, if you WANT a cesarean, that's a different situation. I was going by the assumption that it wasn't something you desired (which may have been an incorrect assumption on my part)...so if it is something you desire, then there would be no reason to question anything since you'd be getting exactly what you want. =) Soderblom CCCE CD(DONA) CLD Student Midwife - Mesa, AZ CAPPA Board of Directors Doula/CBE/Pregnancy/Birth Photography Owner: Birth Story Diaries - real births, real photos http://www.birthdiaries.com Owner: SouthwestDoulas.com
