Guest guest
" Forcing the foot/heel " is what my 1st doctor did too - and the crying for days afterwards. Ugh. s; Kelsey update Kelsey is now on her 3rd cast with Dr. Von Stein in Cincinnati and when they changed this cast, her foot looked pretty much normal. I almost cried because it never looked that good with the previous Doctor. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Von Stein. So far, everything that she has told us has followed the POnseti information that we have found to the letter. I am so glad that we decided to change Kelsey's care to her and that we are so fortunate to only be 1 hour away from her. Kelsey is scheduled for her 1st tenotomy on 10/29. She will be placed under general anesthesia as Dr. Von Stein feels that at Kelsey's age (almost 1), the procedure is risky done in the office since toddlers may not cooperate with being held still etc. This procedure was never mentioned as a possibility by the previous Doctor and Kelsey's foot definitely needs it. In fact, when casting her foot, he would actually force it up into the proper position and she would usually scream for about 2 days after the casting. With the POnseti casts, she has not even fussed at all. The difference is astounding and I so wish I knew more and saw Dr. Von Stein from the beginning. Herem In Dayton, at birth, we kept being told that there was no rush for treatment. No one even wanted to look at Kelsey's foot in the hospital. I kind of forced the issue and she did get her first cast at 10 days old but it turned out that it was for nothing anyway. I definitely know better. Thanks to everyone for the information and the encouragement. I will let everyone know how the tenotomy goes. Jenni- Mom to Kelsey (11/7/03)- lt clubfoot and , (10/31/01), no clubfeet.
