Guest guest
Hi friends, I have a few GI tests that I need to have done. One is the upper GI. I know that you drink the whitish barium. But when talking to a friend of mine, she thought she remembered that they also offer/have a clear liquid that doesn't cause the constipation afterwards. Does anyone know what this is called? I would like to request this liquid instead of the other barium if at all possible. I also know about drinking lots and lots of water the test. But I am always constipated as it is and am very worried that it will take me months to get all the barium out of my system. Thank you Hugs, Ann-Marie
Guest guest
Haven't had the barium, but I'd suggest calling the nurse's line at your GI doctor's office to find out what they could do for you. I'm on lactulose, so I never have to worry about constipation (now the reverse, yes...) Take care, RH > Hi friends, > > I have a few GI tests that I need to have done. One is the upper GI. Guest guest
Laurie, Thanks for the well wishes.!! I overslept today so I didn't get a chance to make my appts. I saw Dr. Korson earlier this month, and also a good Peds GI Specialist up in Boston. They both agreed that I need to have g tube inserted. So I am now in the process of getting all of the testing arranged, and was hoping I could drink something other than the barium, since it causes constipation and I am always constipated. Guest guest
Hi RH, You state that you haven't had the barium, did you ever have an upper GI? And if so what did they use on you? Thanks Ann-Marie Re: Upper GI Questions Haven't had the barium, but I'd suggest calling the nurse's line at your GI doctor's office to find out what they could do for you. Guest guest
Ann-Marie I have had many upper and lower GIs, but always with some kind of barium. The last two lowers I had, they emptied as much of the barium through the same tube that put it in. They had me try to get rid of the rest and then did a floriscope to check and then sent me back to get rid of more. This did help with the cement problem. I have never had anything similar done for the upper. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 30 Nov 2004 17:49:14 -0500 > To: > > Subject: Re: Upper GI Questions > > Laurie, > > Thanks for the well wishes.!!
