Well the right foot that was problemsome has been slipping out of the

Sandal. I guess he is going to need more casting. I

anticipated this so I am not too discouraged but was hoping we would

be done with casts. I am trying my best to get that heel down and

back but it just won't go. He doesn't have a very defined heel on

either foot but I can get the left one down better and that one seems

to stay in place. I can't get either one fully down but at least on

the left I can see the top of the heel through the window. I will

call Dr. H tomorrow and see what he says. Until then I am trying to

keep them on but worry what is worse...to not have them on at all or

not have them on correctly. I am going to email Dr. Ponseti pictures

to get the master opinion.

did you have any problems when first went into the

s?

We didn't have a problem at all with the s. But you have to remember

that was in and out of 18 sets of casts.. Mostly with Dr H. had

his first tenotomies at 4 months.. Then we tried the Markells and we couldn't

keep them on.. Then we took about 1 month break with nothing but us doing

stretches on his feet as often as we could.. Then more casting and then we

visited Ponseti and he recommended anther set of tenotomies which he got in June

which made him 9 months.. and then weekly castings for 3 weeks.. after that we

had no problems.. I would definately recommend sending pics to Ponseti! He's

the pro! Dr. H actually through his hands up and said he didn't know what else

to do.. That's when we went to visit Dr P. with Dr. H's blessing.. And if

there is any way you could possibly visit him I say go for it.. He'll know

exactly what to do and will call Dr H right then and tell him what to do for

Tommy. From what I've read he's pretty good with the pics too. Don't know if

this helps any but i hope so.. I'll be praying for ya..

Did have a defined heel? I think that is part of the problem.

Are you sure Tommy doesn't have Atypical CF?? You call them sausage

feet that's why I ask! Ava does slip a little on the R foot in the

s. The L I can get down perfect. She will have a 2nd tenotomy

in Dec. So I know it's not fully corrected but does maintain the

correction that Dr. Ponseti already achieved. I am praying that MAYBE

she will not need another tenotomy. Dr. Ponseti thinks she had a cord

lenthing and not a tenotomy at Dupont.

Yes I do think Tommy has atypical feet. I have never been told so.

Dr. Herzenberg always says that his feet are very " challenging " . I

have yet to email Dr. Ponseti so I don't know for sure. Did Dr.

Ponseti advise you just to keep the shoes on as best you can?

I am so sorry about the trouble with the shoes. I know Tommy Lee is a

special case and I think you are doing the right thing by emailing Dr. P.

for his opinion. Please let us know the outcome.

Keep your head up. You guys have done great handling Tommy's special feet

thus far.

Yes, he did. When we left him in Sept. she came home in casts for

2wks then went into the shoes. It's been almost 4wks in the shoes and

like I said before the R is a little difficult to stay in. I just

make adjustments through the day. Let us know what Dr. P. says. I

know it can be frustrating!

Oh my, you poor thing (and Tommy too). I am so sorry that going

into the 's wasn't easier for you. Let us know what Dr H

says. Sorry I can't be much help.
