Guest guest
, just thought I'd chime in here...Owen was our 4th and the only one with clubfoot. I had 3 ultrasounds during the pregnancy; one at 13 weeks (early screening for downs), one at 18 weeks and another at 20 (they detected a calcium deposit in one of the heart chambers and told us it could possibly be a 'soft marker for downs and offered the amnio - I turned them down). Owen's clubfoot was not detected at any of these ultrasounds. When he was born, although I was 99% confident that he wouldn't have downs (based on the early screening u/s and maternal serum), a small part of me was worried. When they told me that his one foot was 'turned in', it didn't even phase me...I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it didn't, I was just so relieved. The clubfoot diagnosis was 'nothing' compared to what it could have been. Even with all of the treatments involved, I know that there is a 'prize' (straight foot!) at the end of it all so it's worth it! Take care, Daiga > > I just don't know - seems like it could just go either way.
