Guest guest
He recommends 3 months far as I know. s. How long in DBB 23/7? I was expecting our doc to tell me would need to be in the DBB for 3 months 23/7, but he surprised me and said 2 months. Is that long enough? What does Dr. Ponseti recommend? and 11/10/03 bilateral clubfeet
Guest guest
I think this is more of a case by case thing. Jonah was about 8 months old when he had his tenotomies--after already having done 3 months of 23/7 FAB wear. At this point, he was already crawling and pulling to stand in the FAB. While he was in the 3 week casts, we wrote and asked Dr Ponseti what his recommendation was as far as time in the brace afterwards. We were very precise in our description of Jonah's treatment thus far and the state of his feet before the tenotomies, including photos. He had us tell him what kind of dorsiflexion we achieved with the tenotomies and send pictures after the 3 week casts came off. Based on this, he told us to do full-time wear for at least 6 weeks and then start to decrease the time by about an hour every 2 weeks until we were at 16/day(then down to 14/day when he started walking). We shared all of this correspondance with Jonah's treating physician and she consulted with Dr Ponseti over the phone at least once. This schedule worked well for us--and for Jonah. He can do it all in the FAB: crawl, walk pushing a toy, stand without holding onto anything. He asks for his " straight feet walks " when he's tired. How much will 's hours be reduced after the 2 months of 23/7 wear? To 18 hours? 12? Guest guest
Hi , sees Dr herzenberg and he did not keep her in the DBB 23/7 for 3 months after her 2nd tenotomy at 11.5 months. Dr H is very highly regarded by Dr Ponseti so I do really trust him. He said because of 's age and the fact that she was cruising prior to this second round of casting/DBB, that two months was fine. He put her at 12-16 hours at that point. Most days she is in it around 14 hours. She is not walking yet but is almost 15 months. Is the reason they wear it 3 months full time because of the tendency to regress?

Dr. Ponseti's website says full-time for 2-3 months. I decided to e-mail him and ask the expert. I'll post to the group when I get a response. and 11/10/03 bilateral clubfeet
