Guest guest
My husband Jeff and I, along as our three children, are expecting a girl in January with bilateral cf and have been referred to Dr. Zalts of Royal Oak Michigan, Beaumont Hospital. We plan on meeting with him very soon to talk about his methods of treatment. If he does't participate in the Ponseti method, we will meet with additional doctors in Flint Michigan, or Detroit Michigan, and possibly end up going to Iowa if necessary. Has anyone had any specific details about Dr Zaltz's methods of treatment and personal experiences with him?
Guest guest
Congrats on your pregnancy! I have never heard of Dr. Zaltz, please let us know how your consultation goes with him. If you're interested, there's a parents' checklist at this site: http://pages.ivillage.com/ponseti_links that can help you formulate some questions for interviewing doctors. If you're not already aware of this- many doctors do " claim " to use the Ponseti method when they really aren't, or have " tweaked " it so they have less successful results. You'll have to do your research so that you will know what *is* and what *is not* expected protocol with the method. I wish it was easier for parents so they could just trust doctors at their word, but unfortunately, it's not always that simple.
