Guest guest
Hi there Yes, the glucophage gave me some problems. I did have the diarrhea, but after about a month it got better ( not completely) but tolerable in fact it kept me pretty regular. I don't think I have had any other side effects, it helped me a WHOLE lot with meals and things. I think it helped hormonally as well. I had my surgery November of 2002 and lost 100 lbs and was still losing when I got pregnant at 12 months post op.( I am now 153). In fact my weight loss doctor is the one who found I was pregnant at my year anniversary appointment! What a suprise to me as I am 42 years old and this is my first pregnancy. Trust me, i was NOT trying. My OB/gyn wanted me off the glucophage as soon as I got pregnant and now I think I have other problems because of that. I have a hard time regulating my blood sugar, even after normal meals at times. ( it feels like I am dumping) and instead of diarrhea, i have HORRIBLE constipation. I am also having a wicked time with insomnia. I am up typically from 2 to 5 am. The OB says that it is because I am pregnant and not because of blood sugar, but I know I am right about this. Too many people for too long inaccurately diagnosed my PCOS and all it's medical problems. I learned to diagnosis myself and I've been pretty accurate. As far as if glucophage got me pregnant or if it was just the weight loss....it's hard to say. But I sure do think the glucophage helped to regulate my blood sugar, which in turn regulated my hormones so I vote for YES, it did. Hope this helps
