Guest guest
The shoes are designed to exert corrective pressure in the same places a cast would, particularly for the foot that has alot of cavus left after correction. The shoes are able to continue correction for a foot that was not able to be fully corrected by casts - this is something that the Markell shoes cannot do. Also, the shoes are designed in such a way that they will stay on a not-fully-corrected foot - also something a Markell shoe cannot do. They are alot more user and foot friendly with suede leather and 3 buckles - no laces! Angel > > > Thanks to the folks who responded on my velcro question. Guest guest
I was just thinking, there must be some reason ice skates still have laces as opposed to ski boots & rollerblades. And if you think about it, generally ski boots & rollerblades stay in contact with the ground--there's not alot of swinging around, etc. of the feet. But ice skaters are spinning & lifting their legs & stuff. So laces help them stay on better. And I think most of these kids are kicking & wiggling more than enough to justify nice tight laces!! I know Ava is, and she's only 4 months! , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/04 right CF DBB 23/7 > Thanks to the folks who responded on my velcro question. Guest guest
Hi! One thing we have discovered with my son in the mitchells is the ability to bend his foot back when he crawls as well as standing on his toes. Neither of which helps to maintain correction or acheive the 90 degree angle. Our physical therapist after an indepth discussion with dr. ponseti took the mitchells and put a foam wedge on the bottom of his feet to make his toes stand slightly taller than his heels. This actually forces his heel down when he stands getting that nice 90 degree angle or better. It's helped tremendously in stretching his feet, which were becoming more and more stiff. We had kept the straps as tight as we could without causing pressure sores, the way the heels of the shoes were taller than the feet when flat on floor was doing some serious harm to my sons progress. Thankfully this pt realized and called dr. p. 10-09-03 atypical bl cf mitchells 23/7 > > > > > > Thanks to the folks who responded on my velcro question. Guest guest
o.k., I get it now. I had a hard time picturing it. When 's in between holes, I just kinda yank really hard and get it in there. By the end of the day it's loosened enough that it's not such a hard pull. Otherwise we go to a little thicker sock until it's easier to get it in the other hole. hehe! by the by, I didn't mean to be so flippant on the board, I thought I was sending S. a personal email as I sent it from my msn account. Then I saw it posted on the board and hoped you didn't think I was being rude. hehe! It's hard to get the tone when reading. Sorry about that. > First we slit the old one a bit so it is easier to get buckled as her foot > grows.
