Guest guest
Toi, Wow! Reading your story, I'm just blown over. You sure have been though alot. I'm SO GLAD that you are feeling better and are blessed with your little one on the way. This sure is a good example to all of us that if we are not feeling right and if our docs don't seem to be listening to us we need to find another doc, a lesson that I also learned the hard way and was definitely reinforced today. Axelrod ~ Re: depo shots I am currently 18 weeks pregnant (yeeee haaawwwww!!!!) I've actually been off depo for almost 3 years. I was on the shot for over a year and for the first 9 months, although I continued to have a regular period I loved the idea of only having to worry about birth control every 3 months. Gradually (actually not so gradually) my weight increased, which I figured I could live with, I was big already anyway. My libido plumeted which I figured I could live with (but hubby couldn't lol), and my breasts were extremely painful. After my 4th shot things went haywire. The depression and suicidal episodes smacked us in the face, my breast tenderness showed to be caused from fiberous tissue, weight continued to rise, joint pains were unbearable at night, and the bleeding, which I had always figured would cease all together after a few months, became heavy and continuous. I lived with all of this doo doo and went on to receive a 5th shot because my pcp (who I no longer see) continued to tell me this would all clear up and I'd find out how wonderful the bc method of Depo would be for me. It wasn't until I finally went to see another doctor that I finally found someone who would listen and wanted to work on getting me better. He saw me through the next several months (took that long to get things feeling better). I don't know how long it would have taken me to concieve after going off depo as I wasn't trying to at the time. I went on the pill to get my cycles back on track and that worked until I had WLS then I became malabsorptive, got pregnant 6 months post-op, miscarried, and went on the Ortho Evra patch (I was at an appropriate weight to use the patch by this time), and loved its effectiveness. I used my last patch in October after getting my surgeons permission to get pregnant and WHAM! Instant pregnancy within a few weeks... we honestly thought it would take at least a couple of months of trying, but the pill and patch apparently worked to get my system operating as it should. Good luck ttc and getting through the post depo blahs. Toi
Guest guest
Hi , Yeah, those episodes we women sometimes have to go through in the name of reproduction can be hell, but things are wonderfully on track now. This doc I had that insisted depo was the best bc ever invented (how would HE know?) was the kind that would give you a quick look over, prescribe some type of drug, then stand with one hand on the door knob of the exam room waiting for you to finish talking so he could move on. Glad I moved on to a more caring doc. You're getting so close, ... Can hardly wait for the good news. Toi
