It sounds like you may have what I have..

I was diagnosed with Hyperhomocystein Anemia my first pregnancy and this

pregnancy diagnosed with an Antiphospholipid Disorder. I am at an increased risk

for blood clots when pregnant,

I take b12 & b6, 4 mg folic acid daily, baby aspirin, and Lovenox injections 2

times daily.

I had 6 miscarriages before my son.

This pregnancy may have saved my LIFE!

The doctor called me yesterday with the results of all of the blood

work I have had recently. It seems I have a genetic mutation that I

had to recieve from BOTH parents.Only 5% of the population have this

but 40% are carriers. This mutation causes the blood

cells to be " sticky " causing blood clots, coronary artery desiese,

heart attack, stroke, miscarriages and preeclampsia. This is

probablly what caused the other miscarriages I have had. This genetic

mutation may also be what caused my sister to have her miscarriages

over the past 2 years. She is now also 7weeks pregnant so she will be

tested also. There is no way of getting rid of this

but it is easily controlled with extra folic acid, vitamin B and a

baby asprin a day for the rest of my life. They will monitor this

through out the pergnancy and also test the baby for it. They said

that the fact that my WLS doc had me on prenatals with folic acid

in it since surgery could be the reason that I did not have a

miscarriage this time. I am so fortunate to have had this high risk

pregnancy because doctors do not usually test for this. Now that I

know I have it and can control it my chances of complications are

significantly decreased. This pregnancy could have saved my life! I

feel so blessed in many ways right now.-
