Guest guest
I know there is a lady who is on the group who's surgeon refuses to do her surgery until AFTER she has a baby ( She may be preggers right now, we are awaiting word ) and then there are a few on this group who had tummy tucks and are now preggers. I think the choice is mainly yours and it is a difficult one. Maybe you can search the net for pregnancy after tummy tucks and see if anything pops up? Good LUck with whatever you decide and congratulations on a great weight loss HUGS, ROBIN, NY Age- 41 Due Date- #4 July 27th, 2004 OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170??? Guest guest
Hi, I had the tummy tuck first and I'm not sorry that I did. I wasn't sure that I would ever GET pregnant, but lo and behold I am, and I'm just fine with the fact that my tummy may be a little bigger after this baby. Believe me, after losing so much weight and even after having a tummy tuck, I still didn't have the kind of stomach that would warrant wearing a bikini or midriff tops... so.... I just think that the tummy tuck helped me feel better about myself until I got pregnant. Now you can't even tell I'm pregnant at 21 weeks. If I hadn't had the tummy tuck, I would have looked 6 months pregnant ALL of the time! LOL I know it's an individual choice, but I for one, am not sorry that I did it in the wrong order ) Dee
Guest guest
Hi Dee, Well, I can understand your situation. I would like to have some of the reconstructive surgery done, but I so wanted to start a family. From everything I have been told and have read, most plastic surgeons say two wait 2 years after surgery to have a baby. I had waited a year and a half to get pregnant, I really didn't want to have to wait an additional 2 years after plastic surgery to start a family. So, I opted for putting off the plastic surgery. A family was more on top of my list then fixing up all the sagging skin. I still hate it, all the nasty skin on my thighs and how it droops at my knees. I still look at myself and see 335 pounds because of it. But, I have a baby growing inside of me now and know that putting off the surgery will be well worth it!! Good luck in making the choice. Guest guest
Dee, It is a personal choice for everyone but I would start a family first then do the tummy tuck. I was considering both but decided that I wanted a baby more than the tummy tuck. Good luck and best wishes to you!! Guest guest
I think it's a personal choice as well. When I had my c-section last year I asked my OB what he thought I should do. He told me to finishe child bearing first. My gen. practitioner asked me whne I planned on having another child. I told him next year. He told me to wait. If I was planning to have a bigger age difference in between the kids he then told me to go for the tummy tuck first. I will wait just because we plan on concieving towards the end of this year and only want one more baby. Again, there are many woman who have concieved after the tummy tuck and do great. The only thing I am sure of is that I do want another child one day and a tummy tuck too!
