Guest guest
I keep locking myself out of the house. It is very embarassing when the same neighbor comes over to check on us every time. Guest guest
We live in Auburn, NH just east of the Manchester Airport. It is very rural here, only a couple of street lights in the whole town. The closest to my house is about 2 miles away. It is pretty funny. I keep my house locked up tight, there is no sneaking in any windows. Just have to sit and wait for daddy to come to my rescue. I have this reoccurring dream that I leave the children in the car when I am at the mall. It is terrible. I actually almost had a panic attack once because was not in the car seat when I looked back in the mirror, only to realize that I had left him home with daddy. Thought I was going to have a heart attack! DM Hundley jenhundley@...> wrote: Where do you live? Locking yourself out on a regular basis cracks me up. I have the same problem. Guest guest
Oh no, poor thing. I was seconds I'm sure from having a heart attack last week when we got his shoes on. They showed me how to do it then took the shoes off and had me do it myself, all the while Aidan is screaming. We got the shoes on, baby in car seat and I was discussing the shoes with the orthotist and nurse about treatment, pain blah blah. I was so unnerved, it took me forever to get those suckers on. I walked down to the car carring the car seat and when I went to put the car seat in the base I realized I had never buckled him into the seat. OMG, I almost died. I thought one wrong move and he could have gone tumbling out of this thing. I was horrified at all the what-ifs!!! Additionally, I took him to his physical thearipist, the other day and we were discussing his diet. I mentioned we were putting rice in his bottle, his pediatrician said it was fine and he was ready at 4 mo. Well my physical thearapist said absolutely not. As a preemie, he's really only 2mo old and his digestive system isn't ready for that. So, actually I'm depriving him of nutrients by just adding the filler rice. She gives a workshop every Wed. with a nutritionist and a Specialty doctor who just works with preemies. I felt horrible as I felt like I wasn't feeding him enough. UGH. I'm not sure why God thought I was qualified for this. I've come to the conclusion life is trial and error as well as medicine!!! Here's to hoping we get through this in one piece! :-) Dawn-Marie are you a stay-at-home mom? I'm new to this whole stay at home thing. Guest guest
I am a stay at home mom, lots of work but the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I have done the buckle thing too. Husband did that a few months ago with our 2 year old. I turned to see what he was fussing about as we were backing out of the driveway and was trying to buckle himself in. Too cute, huh Husbands - - Our pedi told us not to fuss with cereal until 6 months. I have been told by others not to do the bottle thing with the cereal, not as nutritious as a feeding and a bottle. I breastfed my first until he was 7 months and is still on the breast at almost 5 months. But I have tried cereal with just to see because he is so big and always looking to eat and he wants no part of it. It is all trial and error. DM Hundley jenhundley@...> wrote: Oh no, poor thing. Guest guest
My only tip for figuring out how to be a SAHM is to approach the task as you would outside-employment....have a schedule through your day you follow to some degree. The child's schedule will determine this to a large degree but that's OK. Not down to the minute - but get yourself a routine and rhythm going on to keep it all running smoothly. I fumbled around for months in chaos and disorganization till I figured that out. My other advice is as soon as your baby is big enough to have a bed time, pick one and stick to it. We need that magic hour at the end of the day we can look forward to when the house will become quiet and we can " get off work " . We're still on call, but at least we're off work. Parent's need child-free hours at home in the evening to look forward to. And children function much better when they are raised on a schedule and can predict what is going to happen next during their day. s. I'm new to this whole stay at home thing. Guest guest
I'm convinced you loose a 1/3 of your common sense brain power. Just this afternoon I heard this great little tune playing all the sudden (I hadn't heard it before). I looked over at the baby in his swing and thought " I've never heard that song coming out of his swing, he must be picking up a radio frequency through his swing! " When I walked over to investigate I realized low & behold it's not his swing. Then I thought, " Oh no, someone has broken in with a radio! " At last I realized it was my new cell phone ringing. I guess it was activated around that time and my new phone rang instead of my old (number portability). I started laughing so hard I was crying - Bye myself, just laughing away!! It's official, I've lost it. Funny thing, I was a 32 yr old professional business women, I have my college degree, brokerage license, and was a retirement plan specialist, selling the right retirement plan to business's for their employees. I thought I was a pretty smart cookie, until I became a mother... Now I feel like I'm in control of nothing, constantly have some type of fluid or other down my shirt from my child, spend my day washing clothes, dishes and my childs behind and it's hard work... But, in truth, I've never felt so rewarded and so much love for another human being - It's great! :-) Number23 number23@...> wrote: I've had those shock-moments when I am out but have left Everett with dad and I think " OH where is he?! Guest guest
I have found that the routine helps. is my oldest and he turned two in September. He gets up between 830 and 930 and is usually back down for a nap by noon. He is a finicky kid and doesn't like to have his schedule changed. That is the tough part of having a schedule. They depend on it. He sleeps for 1 to 3 hours and is up the rest of the day. I am trying to get onto the same schedule but we will see. My husband tries to give me an hour of alone time at night, when ever possible. He works outside of our home and usually puts in a 12 hour day. So sometimes he is more exhausted then I am. And as with anything else - be open to glitches in your routine. Some days I am lucky if I can get my teeth brushed. Others we are up showered and out the door by 9. Just try to be flexible..... Guest guest
My pediatrician actually instructed us to put 2 TBSP of cereal for ever 4 ozs. When Christian was 8 weeks old because of his acid reflux. I thought that was unheard of! But it did help a little and no harm came of it. I guess ever doctor has their own theory on these things. Guest guest
I have heard of that now that you mention it. I guess making it heavy helps to keep it down with the children with reflux. Guess that is why they call it practicing medicine Gerace cgerace@...> wrote: My pediatrician actually instructed us to put 2 TBSP of cereal for ever 4 ozs.
