Guest guest
Not sure what route you're driving from Texas to Iowa but we're in east-central Oklahoma if you need a pit stop s. Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was wondering if anyone else from this board will be there? The only thing he had available was a 9:00 appt. But I took it any way. We will be leaving from Texas on the 15th and hopefully everything will go well. The only thing i worry about is the road conditions. I called the RMH and for some odd reason they could not find the request i put in yesterday. So i had to fill out another one over the phone. I hope we get to stay there because i have heard such wonderful things about it. The last thing we are waiting to hear about is our insurance. I am praying that they will accept to pay to see Dr. Ponseti. My friend that works for my daughter's dr. said they were going to send all her file about her club feet to FirstCare as well as her ortho. I also faxed her a copy of Dr. Ponseti's email to me with the diagnosis and I am hoping that will further convince them about how important this is. I'm hoping to meet any one of yall there maybe.Thank You all for listening and giving me some answer to my ?'s. and BL CF 12/16/
Guest guest
We may yet get scheduled for the 17th. We start recasting on the 13th. I'd love to get it done and coming back on Friday for that would be fine. I'll let you know! Guest guest
, I'll be there this Monday, too! First thing in the morning. And I hope they squeeze us in for a cast change on Friday as well. It would be neat to get to meet some of you there! Chris Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th We will be there! We don't even have an appointment yet, but we go this coming monday and then back for the five day cast change again on friday, so they will have to squeeze us in. I actually called about the Angel flights and the only problem I had was due to the early dark hours now and the weather, they can't guarentee flights out and I can't tell for sure how long in the appointment I will be. Since it gets dark in michigan around 5 now, there is now way we would be home in time. and they won't fly in the dark. It's also all volunteer based, so they have to work around the pilots schedules. We just weren't that flexible with appointment times and trying to get home. before dark for them. They also need to know 5 business days in advance. Hope to see you there! atypical bl cf mitchells 23/7 > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > wondering > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
The wedges or the shoes? LOL Knowing we are heading back to several weeks of casts made me say " oh good - I can use really pj's " and then " bummer. I like showering her! " LOL LOL I think we might still be there at 10! I'll look for you!!! Chris Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th LOL, should have read all the replies first hunh?? Our appt is at 10:00. Guest guest
We haven't decided yet but RR was at the top of our list. We really don't want to do chores after driving all day and then doing it again that day... shallow? Oh well. LOL I have enough chores waiting here! Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th We are actually staying at the red roof inn. After spending 8 1/2 weeks at the rmh, I just couldn't do it again. plus, since we are going for a night and heading home the next day, I honestly didn't want to clean the room before leaving. You get a reduced rate at the rrinn as well. 40.00 a night. Where are you staying? > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > wondering > > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
Yes.. My stands fine on his left foot but his right is always on the toes. I emailed his doctor, Dr Herzenberg, and he spoke of botox.. Which I might add I'm not thrilled about.. I think that would be a last resort.. Did Dr P say how many casts he would need before going back into the shoes? What did you use for the " wedges " ? 's feet are still very flexible. The left one more so.. I don't want to wait too long to get this corrected tho.. I hope to talk to his doc and see if we can try casting alone first. Than if that doesn't do like it's supposed to I guess we'll be visiting Dr P again... Thanks for the info! -------------- Original message -------------- Hi , yep, we are getting recasted...if you want to revisit one of the postings it's in the " here we go again " one. But to do a little update. We had the wedges put on the bottoms of his shoes which has helped the toe walking tremendously. Only we didn't get it quick enough. and considering we did it after a month of being in the shoes, that's kinda scary. Toe walking is not good at all. Not only does it hinder the stretching of the heel cord, but it also doesn't not help to stretch the tendons on the bottoms of the feet, the ones that when pulled together form a crease on the soles of their feet. has very big creases and very tight heels. Because of the toe walking or standing in our case, it made the tightness worse, thus the recasting. grrr. very frustrating, but I trust Dr. P and I trust the One who gave him his gifts even more. So I know we are in the best of hands! Are you having problems with that? If you are I would encourage you to send pictures immediately or see about getting pt. Hope this helps, > > > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > > wondering > > > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
We've been out at least 5 mos now... I don't know when we'll get in. Traffic and weather will make a difference. DH and I will be leaving some time Sunday morning and it's an 8 hour drive without stops for feeding, diaper changes, etc. Let alone the need to walk a bit. I imagine we won't get there until evening. I'll ask if you've checked in when we do. What time are you expecting to get there? Chris Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th What time will you be getting into town on Sunday night? How long have you been out of the casts? I love the bath time too. I will really miss that, but hopefully not for too long. > > > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > > wondering > > > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
I can't stay because my boys have school so I just get to go and come. But if you do have to stay a while, RMH is it. My dh is worried about the weather and traveling as well... but you do what you have to do. I have so much to do for christmas I can't imagine not being here! LOL Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th I don't think it's shallow at all, that's how we felt too. Actually there may be a change of plans as my mom just got the next two weeks off and she and my husband are very concerned about me driving that much in winter. soooo...we may be staying for a week to two weeks at the rmh. oiy!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!! > > > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > > wondering > > > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
Don't worry. The Lord will take care of it. He always does. Let me know where you are going to stay and we'll be sure to check in with you while we are in town!!! We still haven't made reservations yet either... Chris Re: Dr. Ponseti on December 17th I know, we still need to get our tree. After spending that much time at the rmh, I just don't want to, but the thought of going and getting caught in a snowstorm missing an appointment or whatever with two kids in the car...well, it makes me nervous. I just gotta pray and wait for an answer. Hurry up Lord! hehe The thought of not being there for christmas...oiy! I'm starting to cry again! grrr... > > > > > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > > > wondering > > > > > if anyone else from this board will be there? Guest guest
Thanks so much for the info. We actually just called Dr Herzenberg and made an appointment for Dec 20th.. I told his secretary we weren't interested in the botox now.. LOL.. Don't want him ta think that's why we're going. Hopefully casting will take care of it.. But I'm a bit bummed that he'll be in casts over Christmas and he just started walking.. Ack What am I gonna do???? -------------- Original message -------------- Gosh , before you go through all that, see about getting referred by your pediatrician and try out Physical therapy. It certainly can't hurt and make sure the Physical therapist is consulting with dr. p or dr. h. It has made a huge difference in what jason does, she was the one that got the wedges made for him. Working with her in PT for 2 times a week has helped his mobility a lot. Dr. p right now is thinking 3 more casts, but he has only seen pictures. nontheless I am hopeful. We will actually be going into AFO's that our PT got through our ortho in town. I am bringing those with me to show dr. p, he knows about them and helped the ortho here intown design them for jason. They are free moving, so I am pretty excited about that. He will go into the mitchells then at night. they have a foam wedge on the bottom of the shoe up by the toes that forces him to put his ankle down when he stands. They are pretty cool and I would highly recommend them for moms who are in the bar full time right now with a stander-walker to talk to dr. p about getting them. They just make sense. I can't wait to show them to . good luck. There are so many hard decisions to make. Lord bless you as you make them. > > > > > > > > > > My daughter will be seeing Dr. Ponseti next week and i was > > > > wondering > > > > > if anyone else from this board will be there?
