Guest guest
Hi Belinda, I know you are scared since you are still post early but you will be fine and so will this baby. Eat all the good things you can when you can even if they are small things throughout the day. Make sure to continue all your vitamins and get yourself some folic acid too. The doc should add prenatals to these also when you go for your first visit. This is actually going to be much easier than you think. We are really notmuch different than any other pregnant women , we just need to eat when we can instead of sitting down to big meals like before. You can also include protien shakes still to make sure you are getting all that in but I do not use the shakes, never did. I do sip orange juice in small amounts and milk too, I do not drink alot at once since it makes me naseaus (sp) but I do drink a little here and there. I did not have morning sickness, just a bit of naseau, and I read from the group that many really did not have it either. I am 14 weeks monday and still do not really feel all that prego but I am, I check the heartbeat all the time with a doppler to make srue I am sure you will do fine. COngratulations, I bet you are excited since this is your first baby, a miracle baby. Mine were surprises too, good ones HUGS, ROBIN, NY Age- 41 Due Date- #4 July 27th, 2004 OPEN RNY 10-18-02 378/246/170??? Guest guest
Belinda - You are me! I had my surgery on 7/14/13 and found out I was pregnant on Jan 10th. At 6 months out yeah I am concerned but I truley believe I can get the nutrition in because of the baby. I was a slower looser than you so I know I can eat!LOL. I have lost 75 lbs and have 65 to go so I was only 1/2 way to goal. I do wish I could have reached goal before this happened unexpectedly but am sooooo happy this did happen it will be worth it if I never reach goal. My husband and I have been married 18 years(I am 37) and I have been pregnant 3x but all were in the 80's and all ended in miscarriage. What scares me more than the WLS is the PCOS that I have - that is what probabally caused the miscarrieages in the first place and that is what has prevented me from concieving for the last 15 years. We had tried EVERYTHING afordable to us (clomid and surgery - ovarian drilling of the cysts) and it was after I gave up on having a child that I decided to research WLS. When I found out that it is safe to have a baby post op and even safer than being obese and diabetic I wished I had done it earier in my life. I hoped to try to get pregnant again 18 months post op but this little miricle happened. I am now going to go to a high risk ob/gyn recomended by my WLS doctor. I will be keeping in weekly contact with the nutritionist(all included in the WLS fee in the firt place) so she can ensure my weight loss stabalizes and I am getting the right nutrition in. She did say to continue to take the prenatals that I was already taking but do not double them - as the pregnancy progresses I might need to add more iron, folic acid and B12 but right now the levels are great but I will be regularlly monitored. I should increase my daily caloric intake to about 1500 fron 800 to stabalize the weight. I will do this by eating 5 small meals a day instaed of 3. She also recomended I try to get 100-130 grams of protein in a day so I am drinking the Nectar Apple extasy that I love which gives me 25 grams per scoop. Being in just about the same stage as you I cannot give you experience but we can go through this together. Feel free to e- mail me privately if you would like. - Diane RNY 7/14/03 270/191/130 6weeks pregnant EDD 9/10/04 > Hi Everyone, > I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello - I'm so happy to > have found this group as my current support group doesn't appear to > have any post-surgery pregnancies being discussed now, or in the > archives. > > I just found out today at about 1pm and I've been alternating > between crying and websearching for information. Guest guest
- it is nice to have some people in here that are so similar in due date as well as surgery date. I think you should just talk to your doctor about the prenatals and get your blood work done. That will show you what you need for your body and baby. I am finally starting to feel more at ease about this pregnancy and not as scared that I will loose it. Its hard and I know that I will feel even more comfortable after the first trimester is over. (that is my personal danger period) I hope all is well with you. Keep us posted. - Diane
