Callie, it may be worthwhile to get an adjustable bar that bolts onto

the bottom of the shoes rather than the bar with the clamps and

wingnuts. We had the 'wingnut' bar the first time (provided by our

clinic) but I quickly ended up purchasing an adjustable bar with the

bolts.

If I am understanding all this correctly I have an idea that may help - what if

you remove the wingnut and put a lock-washer on, then put the wingnut back on.

That would keep the wingnut from cinching down so far and also from coming loose

before you want it to. If there's not room for the thickness of a lock washer,

maybe just a regular one to provide a spacer

s.
