It's funny you mention walking and time frames. Today I just happen to be

looking at mine and my brothers baby books. My mom & aunt were discussing how

early we all walked. My brother, who was born with perfectly normal feet didn't

start walking until 15mo. My twin brother was equally stubborn. My mom used to

put him bottle across the room to motivate him to move, he was perfectly content

just sitting on the floor.

I wouldn't worry, he'll get there. You can always talk to your ped. though and

she could refer you to a physical therapist.

i just wanted to ask. my son will be 14months old (in 11 days) and he

is not yet walking by himself. he walks holding two hands firmly, even

runs, BUT when he holds onto a palm or a finger, he often staggers,

and he does not even stand on his own (HE PULLS UP AND CRUISES

QUICKLY, BUT CANNOT STAND JUST HOLDING ONTO NOTHING). he is in dbb

13-15hours per day.

can it be because of muscle weakness? he was casted non-correctly BY

Kite method for 5months, then followed a posteromedial release on a

left foot. then we heard about ponseti , and his left foot was casted

according ponseti -for a month again- we RAN from surgery-luckily,

so...now i am thinking mAybe all these months in casts are keeping him

behind....

when generally your kids walked? is it normal to expect my son to walk

when he is 16mo or even older?

or SHOULD I DO CERTAIN EXRECISES, MASSAGES, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? WHAT

PONSETI SAYS/ OR SHOULD WALKING COME ON ITS OWN WAY?????

My son was 16 months old when he finally started to walk on his own.

He spent weeks running around behind his Tonka Dumptruck, careening

around corners like a pro. Take it away and he'd be back to

crawling. I was certain he never ever would walk!!! 8) Babies are

all over the place in terms of starting to walk. Who knows if the

cf/dbb etc. slows them down. There are many testimonials of cf kids

who walked sooner than siblings. I, personally, think Evan was a bit

slower because he didn't have all those months of learning to kick

etc. when he was in casts and braces. But learn to walk he did--

in his own time. Don't worry--your son will be off when he knows

he's ready!
