Guest guest
HI, I really need some ideas and thoughts about how to deal with our new issue. Asher (3 yrs. ol) got a feeding tube last Tuesday. He is home from the hospital and healing well. I'm exhausted. The dilemma is: I have to sleep in his room until we get the rate of his night feedings at the right level to make sure he does not throw up, etc. And, I check the residuals every four hours. Well, Asher is throwing tantrums at night if he doesn't get exactly what he wants (i.e. the light on, me in his bed, his books in the right place, etc.) These tantrums go on until I end up giving in to what he wants b/c I don't want him to thrash around and pull out the tube (he's hooked to the pump at these times) or hurt himself. In the past, when he didn't have the tube, I could just make sure he was safe in his room and let him cry or have his tantrum in his room until he felt better and fell asleep. Now, I feel like I have to give in to his every want and then I do not end up getting much sleep. This is not good for either of us
