Guest guest
The frustrating thing is that we were in the hospital and just because I have lots of experience with sick kids they released her home. They knew she was having tons of problems swallowing her milk but just said that if the trouble continued to talk to the doctors here at home. I like being home, but not if it is a risk to Porrah. They kept saying not to worry because she has a scheduled appointment with a GI and since she has already been having problems and has made it to this point then she should be ok to make it til then Very frustrating!! She will nurse on one side then throw up and not want the second side. She is getting a little bit in and keeping it down, but still loses most of it. Doctors here aren't taking it seriously either because they know we have an appointment and want Mayo to deal with it. Stuck between the two. Darla: mommy to Zipporrah Re: Porrah's MRI & anethesia ? Darla, Yes, I am well familiar with the delayed time of recovery with Versaid. I remember it took Lily 5 days to recover from it once. But Lily was still able to drink & that would be my concern with Zipporrah, the risk of becoming dehydrated from not nursing & vomitting. Feb 2nd is a long ways off and if you are feeling that uneasy about her present condition, then maybe it's time to make some noise. What do YOU want for Zipporrah? What do YOU think she needs? And then start the campaigning for it hard! Do you feel she needs nourshiment, IV? If her condition has declined since being released, then call, call, call your doc or go to the ER. But before you go, I think you should decide what you want for her. I remember one day calling the neuro's office 5 times in the AM, it was getting critical and I finally said to Tom in exasperation- "You do it!". Well don't you know we got an immediate response and put right in to the hospital. right where I knew we needed to be but it wasn't happening with my girlie voice and I'm no push over. It's maddening, and it drives me crazy but some times you get better results when the Daddy calls.-- In Mito , "Darla Klein" <honeybear50317@m...> wrote:> We are home from Zipporrah's MRI/MRA finally. We used an IV anesthesia with a preparatory dose of Versaid and the techs said all went fine with the scans. However, following it she was very slow to wake and had a lot of difficulty nursing. She hadn't nursed from 8:30 AM until after 5 PM that evening (Her scans were at 1:30-3:00 PM). She seemed famished and so I tried to nurse her. She just kept gulping tons of air very loudly, gagging, and was swallowing over and over again after only 2 sucks and could hardly catch her breath. This kept happening all evening. We tried for several hours to get her to nurse (her IV fell out during the procedure I learned so she was without any nourishment) and finally got one half decent meal in her at bedtime. She was very floppy all evening and I had to support her head totally or it would flop. Still this morning, even after being released, she has thrown up 5 times and not able to hold much down. I am wondering if others have had this experience and if so how long before it got better. She had problems before the scans with gagging, air swallowing, and reflux, but now it has multiplied in intensity and is worrying me. Somehow I have to get to the Feb. 2nd GI visit to get testing done on her Noone seems to be in a hurry at all except for me.> > Darla: mommy to Aseanth and Zipporrah and the gang Get more from the Web FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.comPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
Darla, I know that feeling of fear. I know that we are sent home alot way before we should be just because I am trained to do so many things. I get very scared that I may miss things. There are times that I have said no, we are staying for one more day. They usually understand. They think sending us home would make us happy, cause who likes to be in the hospital? But sometimes thats just where you need to be. It's veryu overwhleming. Hope Porrah feels better soon, and results are not just normal but not in that gray area either. Don't you just hate that gray area? It where we spend much of our time. Just really not knowing anything for sure. Dawn
