Guest guest Posted March 10, 2004 Report Share Posted March 10, 2004 hi geri-anne lauren too use to get this our dr wrote a prescription for a container of about 50 silver nitrate sticks which caused the burn and sometimes had to be retreated and then it would clear up but be careful you think it is not working and it is (if you do it yourself) after it is cleared up daily we put an iv sponge around lauren's button and then a lubricating ointment we use bactroban oint which is a prescription but you can also use neosporin oint you want the ointment because it is the frition that causes the extra skin growth sort of like the body trying to form a callous there---that is how a dr explained it to me (also before the oint we dry it real well with q tips once we started doing this everyday after her shower we haven't had any of the regrowth problems every once in a while the site gets yeastie-- you can tell by litlle dots around an infection they call them satelites anyway we put nystatin on it several times a day and it goes away after awhile our dr gave us prescriptions good for a year for bactroban, nystatin and silver nitrate sticks call me or whatever if you have a question lisa Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
