Not sure how to answer this. I have asked several different times for something more potent but they always say they would prefer her to only use the tylenol or motrin. The question just never seems to get a good explanation as to why. I guess we always have so many more pressing matters to discuss with the neurologist that we haven't pushed for more explanations. Darla Re: Need help- growth issues/Darla Did they ever say why they did not want to use anything else? Dr. Cohen actually prescribed the Periactin for both of my girls. He said it is used very commonly with mito kids because migraines are so common. Also he said he even uses it with some mito kids who do not even have migraines, because it is an appetite stimulant. Maybe you can ask Dr. Whiteman about it. There may be some reason due to Asthenas brain involvement why they don't want her on it, but it really works on preventing the migraines.
