Guest guest
Don't worry about not knowing things. We all were new to this "Mito" stuff at one time. A g-tube is an apparatus placed on the outside of the stomach and goes to the inside of the stomach to be able to feed your child, give liquids to prevent dehydration, or to even give all the meds needed to keep Mito kids healthy. Asenath has the mic-key button type. It has a little opening outside her tummy that can be attached to a feeding tube/pump for liquids/meds and can be used as little or as much as needed. When not in use it can be detached from the tube/pump and closed. There are a couple types of g-tubes out but this seems to be the most predominant. Asenath has a NG-tube first which is a tube going down her nose into the stomach. That was a pain and we were so happy to get the g-tube placed. The lack of eating can be caused by different reasons. It can be a sign of illness, fatigue, or deterioration. As for seeing a doc, I recommend it anytime you feel the need. Mother's intuition is a big cue you should follow. If you feel he needs help and you are worried about him, then see a doctor. See a Mito geneticist if possible. They know the most about Mito and can help you deal with this issue as well as others that arise. As far as the teething issue, it can affect appetite at times. Growing should cause more hunger but with Mito growing takes energy and when energy output is low due to Mito problems, it could cause problems. I am sure others in this group can help you in this issues as well. Hope this helps.
