Sensory problems after illness?

I've noticed that my son's sensory issues (he has sensory

integrative problems) get worse after an illness. His hearing,

vision, and touch seem to be hypersensitive. For example, he

will get scared when he hears a quiet sound like someone

moving around in another room or the furnace turning on

somewhere else in the house.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are sensory issues

common with mito disorders?

Thanks,

Stacey

Thanks for your reply. I just recently noticed that the sensory

sensitivities seem to be related to illnesses, it's hard to put

everything together and make the connections. After he was

hospitalized in November, he got so scared so easily, in the car,

by quiet sounds, by light changes, etc. Do you think the sensory

activities (swinging, squeezing, etc.) help with the sensitivities?

Coincidentally, I was looking at your web site yesterday. Your

have a beautiful family. It always surprises me to read about

other kids' symptoms and see how similar they are to Sheldon's,

it makes it seem like finding the diagnosis should have been

easier than it was.
