Guest guest
The last CT he had they used Chloral Hydrate, and he was miserable afterward very combative and it took close to 36 hours , Chelsea had chloral hydrate for her very first sedation at 18 mos for an MRI, this was before we knew she had mito. I remember it took her a very long time to wake up after and she was very lethargic. The nurses were mildly concerned and kept her most of the afternoon, until they saw her drinking some and keeping her eyes open (she was still orally fed at that time). When she was set up for her next procedure, I explained to her ped, the dr preforming the procedure and the anethesiologist about her reaction. A note was put in her chart and chloral hydrate has not been used with her again. There is an article at www.umdf.org that explains what sedatives are good and which should be avoided. I usually bring that article with me to give to the anethesiologist before the procedure. HTH e, Chelsea's mom(nonspecific mito)
