Guest guest
, Gaby had a 48 hour EEG with video telemetry done just before Christmas (in Australia). The EEG leads were secured to her head (as per an 'normal' EEG, with a few extra leads on her forehead and upper chest. The leads on her head were secured with several bandages (she looked like she had the mumps!!). The leads were attatched to a small control box (which we could move around with her), This in turn was connected to the monitoring screen by several meters of cord. We had to stay in the room the whole time, and keep the video focused on her so that the EEG recordings could be compared with visual pictures as well, but we were able to move about the room as far as the long lead would let us. As her shower was in the room, I was able to shower her from the chest down..just kept all the leads out of the way. If she was having what I thought may be a seizure, I was to press a record marker button, and document in the diary the time and observation. (there is anothet form of long EEG monitoring, where you are able to leave the hospital each day..we are having that done next month) Suggestions..Have several tops which open down the front..otherwise clothes cannot be changed. Take plenty of activities suitable for your child (and you when they are aseep). The hospital has stuff too, but getting things that suit some mito kids can be a little particular as you know!! Have another adult on hand to give you a break. Gaby was so intent on removing the leads, I couldn't even go to the toilet without someone sitting close to her! Hope this helps I wish I had asked the same question before I went!! ne
