Guest guest Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Does anyone have phantom itching - but no sores? It is especially bad in the summer, but sometimes I itch with no cause at all. Yes, it's the Small nerve fiber neuropathy. Not only will I itch, but my skin gets so sensitive even the air touching it makes it feel like it's on fire. I use the Neutrogenia Swedish Formula body lotion-- and it is wonderful. Instead of scratching next time, put some lotion on-- and see it that soothes your skin. Tracie Quote

Guest guest Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I don't have the itching but most of the time I can't stand brushing up against something or rubbing my own leg feels like the inside is being pulled & shredded. grannylunatic@... __________________________________________________ Quote
Guest guest Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 My son has a terrible problem with athletes foot. His wife had a yeast infection and was using an over the counter product. He picked it up and read the ingredients and it was the same as his foot cream only stronger version. New round of athletes foot, he sends her after medication, she comes back with Vagisil. This is only a topical cream used for itching and odor. He lays it down and it has been at my house for several months. I start having a bout of the itching on my legs and feet, driving me crazy kind. Lotions not working, oatmeal is not working, then I get a light bulb moment. Try it,it works. Now the only thing is the look on people's face when you bring out the tube of Vagisil in front of them. You can see the relief when they realize your not going to put it where they thought you were. Guest guest Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 You got me laughing with that one, Elodia! Now I have a funny for you. I had a very nice, sturdy tote bag for years, at least 7 or 8 years. I got it at a conference. The only problem was that it said "Vagisil" on the side. I didn't need it & I couldn't pay anyone to take it. I hated to throw it away, so I kept it. Then last year, I finally pitched it. Oh, if I had just kept it one more year, I could have sent it to you! Rats. Guest guest Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 does the Lanocaine help the itching Rose, Get some Neutrogena Swedish Formula Body Lotion. Then use the Neutrogena soap--this is the one that works for me-- and if scents are a problem, they are very low in the perfume. There is no alcohol in them--so you don't get that drying effect. Also--have you tried the Colloidal Oatmeal-- ya know the stuff we sat in when we'd get the chicken pox. A bathtub of that and you're good to go. One other thought-- (whew, a bunch of them tonight)-- how is the PH balance of your hottub? Do you end up with alot of chlorine in it because of the grandkids in it? Make sure it's in balance, or you won't be. hugs, me Quote

Guest guest Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 Tracie, thanks for the suggestions, but this isn't skin that itches. It's part of the neuropathy; it's like a deep itch that you can't scratch. The only place I get it is the parts of my feet affected by the neuropathy & my right first finger, which has been numb for many years from carpal tunnel. It doesn't happen every day, but with no warning will start. Thank God it doesn't last more than 15-20 min. now, but I have a hunch it might get worse. I have a lot of other news, but I have to go get my car checked; will try to update & answer everyone's mail this evening.
