Guest guest
Many strokes, let alone SLE's, do NOT show up in MRI's. Aseanth's neurologist has agreed that Aseanth has probably had more than 8 strokes and quite a few more SLE's, but only the biggest one that paralyzed half her body in 2002 shows up in her MRI's. What differentiates strokes and SLE's is the outcome or side effects from the spisode and how long they last. You can have TIA's that last minutes to hours even and don't show up in MRI's but they still cause issues (temporarily). SLE's have symptoms that last days to a couple weeks usually and actual strokes have some lasting symptoms that can progressively get better over a year's period and then what is there after a year is usually permanent damage. It all can be a little complex differentiating between strokes, SLE's and TIA's. Hope this helps. Thanks! That fits the impression I was getting. With stroke-like episodes - does anyone know if those usually showup on MRI's? Also, wouldn't the lactic acid or some other test beabnormal?LynnePlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
