First, let me congratulate you about your coming baby. As far as prenatal testing I had several ultrasounds, but not due to Mito. I had pregnancy induced hypertension and the doctors watched her closely for placental failure. Dr. Whiteman said that they can sometimes tell if Mito is involved if the baby has too much fluid surrounding it and if their is less movement. He said there really isn't any set testing that can see Mito such as an amnio. He also said that lots of Mito babies do not engage at the end due to floppiness. Zipporrah was carried so high the doctors had to find her heart beat much higher than the normal area. Dr. Whiteman said this also could be a sign of floppiness. Now that she is born we can tell she indeed is floppy. Asenath had many similarities with the pregnancy. I am sure you have read the other moms talk about all the symptoms they had when carrying their Mito babies Hope this information helps you some. Try to relax and just enjoy your little one's presence inside. I have always loved being pregnant, although the last couple have been a little harder on me. Again, congratulations! Darla: mommy of Aseanth (3), Zipporrah (3 months on the 21st), Luke (15), Leah (13), (12), Isaac (10 on Feb 1), Tirzah (7), Kezia (3), and Marquis (2) Re: Re: Further questions -shakiness I remember my sister mentioning this happening to her son. It only happened a few times, when he was an infant. I think she said only one side of his body would shake. It went away after a while on it's own. My nephew is perfectly healthy, so maybe its just a weird baby thing. I would defiantly bring it up at your appt. next week. Does she do this after nursing her? Could it possibly come from just holding her in a certain position for a while. Just some possible reassuring thoughts. Hope all goes well. Did you have any special prenatal testing done on Zipporah, knowing Asthena's diagnosis? Just asking because we just found out this week, we are expecting another baby in Sept. I am going to use the Cleveland Clinic for my OB care, so it will be nice having Dr. Cohen as a reference. But I just wanted to know in advance if there even was any testing available. Saying a prayer for the whole family :) Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
