Guest guest Posted April 15, 2004 Report Share Posted April 15, 2004 I was wondering if anyone has had to deal with excessive phlegm problems in their kids, what caused it, and how to deal with it. Zipporrah has been dealing with the issue for a couple months now. Viruses make it worse, and she does have asthma issues (possible allergies too?) so I know they can worsen the symptoms but my hubby and I are concerned as it causes her so much distress. She gets so gunky, especially after feedings and then vomits all her feeding up. She really struggles to get it all out and to breathe again. There are always large globs that hang out of her mouth until more liquidy vomit gets it out. That on top of already having reflux is causing problems. We are treating her asthma symptoms proactively but she is still struggling to keep feedings down. She lost over a pound before the NG-tube was placed and thankfully she hasn't lost any since placement, but isn't gaining either. Any advice appreciated. Have her doctors considered trying Neocate which is amino acid based without milk or soy proteins? Evan did fine with Alimentum which is pre-digested, but milk based, but he couldn't tolerate soy, milk, or corn based formulas.
